5. Doctoral student 'masterclasses'. These are private sessions with the student and the supervisor(s) where I comment on the structure and content of the student's thesis work in progress, which I have read beforehand.

6. I am happy to be present at a public presentation by a student and to make comments along with others.

The sessions deal with issues raised in Estelle M. Phillips and Derek S. Pugh, HOW TO GET A PhD (4th edn. Open University Press, 2005) and developments therefrom.
