This newsletter's purpose is to keep you updated on
news about the OU/OUBS and its various products, the alumni association, offers and affinity
deals, alumni events and just about anything else that you request.
|
|
We would also like
to receive news from you (with web links) that I can circulate to
the rest of the association. You will see that many of the items
link you back to the alumni web site at www.open.ac.uk/oubs-alumni
where you will also find the news site, events listings as well as
the on-line membership directory. If you are not there it is
probably because you have not opted in and we need your permission
and signature for data protections reasons. Please email oubs-alumni@open.ac.uk
for the necessary paperwork.

Be
a part of the Executive Education Club
|
|
Join fellow alumni at a networking meeting
at the British Library on 10 March to learn more about Ecademy- a
trusted business network - and how to get the most from the site- from
its founder Thomas Power. Network with other business school alumni
from the Executive Education Club and make some new contacts. From 6pm
with buffet book via the alumni office 01908 655806.
The OUBS Alumni Association has been
invited to join with alumni from other Business Schools to join the Executive
Education Club set up on Ecademy
- a trusted business network. In recent surveys carried out amongst
Business school Alumni, top of people's agenda was networking. You
want the opportunity to network with each other and with the ider
business community. Well, here is an opportunity to do just that. The
Executive Education Club has been set up on a networking site called
Ecademy and here is your invitation to join. It is free to join and we
are inviting alumni from many business schools to take part.
Ecademy is a Trusted Business Network - members join for contacts,
knowledge and business opportunities through the website's unique
networking tools and face to face at networking events. Ecademy
already has 20,000 members most of which are amazingly active. They
arrange networking events for their current membership predominantly
held in London. Regional events are also taking place around the UK
run by Ecademy Regional Leaders. The Executive Education Club will
allow you to communicate via email with all other members of the club
through forums. You will also be able to communicate face to face at
networking events we are in the process of organising. By inviting
other business school alumni associations around the world to join in,
we hope to be able to organise events local to where those alumni
groups are to be found. Ecademy give limited access to the
functionality of the site for free to all who join. In order to access
all the features and build a network outside of the Executive
Education Club forum, members are asked to pay £100 per year and
become what are known as Power Networkers. Join the Executive
Education Club for free now, and tell us what you would want it to
offer you. Start a forum going on the club page and look out for news
of our launch event which we hope to organise for Spring 2004. Log on
to Ecademy now
and join the Executive
Education Club

Have
you tried the new Sesame screensaver?
|
|
You no longer have to wait for each issue of Open Eye or Sesame to
keep up to date with news and events at the Open University. The
Oxigen/Sesame Screensaver is a unique news and information service
that operates as a screensaver when your computer is idle. Rather like
a slide carousel, the screensaver automatically runs through a
programme of images, each staying on screen for 15 seconds. The images
are a mix of current OU news, events, courses, study and career
support, together with a small number of adverts. You can simply
download the software by clicking on the weblink www3.open.ac.uk/oubs/oxigen.shtm

Entrepreneurs -
your stories wanted
|
|
If you have started your own business that has grown to employ ten
people or more, the OUBS's media relations team would like to hear
from you. Journalists and feature writers often ask the team for
information about MBA graduates who have shown strong entrepreneurial
skills in starting and growing new businesses. These writers are
looking to feature graduates and their businesses in case studies for
publication. Case studies like these are an important tool for raising
the profile of the School, its courses and its graduates; and, of
course, case studies about businesses can help to raise their own
profile too. If you think you and your company fit the bill and you'd
like more information, please contact Neil Coaten on 01908 652580 or
at n.d.coaten@open.ac.uk
Please note that information and contact
details are not passed to journalists without the permission of the
case studies themselves.
