These are designed for the busy professional, leading academics and practitioners will present practical updates on core business disciplines to keep you at the forefront of business thinking. Each seminar will cover a different specialist topic and help you apply what you learn to your own work environment.

9 October Henley The Creativity Edge, Presented by Ros Bell, OUBS - book now!

About this workshop:
This hands on workshop will explore the dynamic interaction between the complementary opposites, creative discipline and rigorous freedom, in the business environment. Drawing on theoretical and experiential studies in the field of creativity and innovation, our investigation will be practically oriented, focusing on personal creativity within organisational and individual contexts. You will try out techniques to support creativity, your own and that of others, and should emerge from the session with new ideas and approaches to take into your own creative future.

About Ros Bell:
Both in organisations and as an independent consultant, Ros Bell has worked with practical creativity since 1981, when she first tutored on the ground-breaking Open University residential course, 'Art and Environment'. Since 1990, she has worked for the Open University Business School, as an MBA tutor and consultant on a range of teaching and authoring projects. She is a long-standing core member of the 'Creativity, Innovation and Change' course team, helping to develop materials to facilitate creative management. For nearly fifteen years, Ros has provided training and facilitation for creativity, problem solving and team working to managers in organisations from a wide range of sectors.

30 October Enterprise Governance, Presented by Professor Roland Kaye, Dean of the OUBS.

In a post-Enron world public interest is demanding enhanced governance processes but this will not succeed if the information provided to Boards and stakeholders is not reliable and robust, incorporating both financial data and other relevant management information. Further the provision of only historic data is inadequate to support planning and investment decisions, while the turbulent world demands more explicit Risk assessment.

Professor Kaye will provide some insights into Enterprise Governance a Method developed by the International Federation of Accountants in conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants who promote it internationally.

13 November Managing People Effectively, Presented by Professor Chris Brewster, Henley

11 December The Latest Thinking in Strategy, Professor Ian Turner, Henley
