Global MBA

A Global MBA, based on the existing MBA, is being launched in partnership between the OU and Pearson designed to offer students in targeted countries an opportunity to study for the Open University MBA award, via a blend of innovative learning methods. The programme is being trialled in India, Malaysia, Singapore, Norway and Sweden. The first presentation will be in November 2009. Students will study in multi-national learning groups which will be supported by tutors who may be based in the UK or internationally. Students will also be required to attend a series of residential schools, named Global Exchange Events to reflect the global nature of the programme. These five-day residential events will take place in London, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai and Oslo.

The partnership brings together the academic programme expertise of The Open University and the commercial capability of Pearson. The Open University will retain control and ownership of all educational material. This unrivalled knowledge network will ensure the Open University Global MBA programme is relevant to students in the targeted countries.

With remarkable access to two factories as they try struggle to survive, the film looks at the continuing battle they face to hold on. Paul charts how they introduce measures to save jobs by cutting costs and reducing working hours through to seeking support from the banks to avoid closure and the spectre of laying people off. The situation is heart breaking for the owners and unsettling for the staff. One company owner has dedicated his life to creating the jobs, which may now disappear.
